Joe Collins

has played the dulcimer since 1978. Since then, he has been an ambassador for the instrument, taking it into places it had never been before. Likewise, the instrument took him to places he had never been. He began competing to improve his playing in 1998 and focused on technique as he developed his unique chord-melody playing style. In five trips to Winfield to compete in the National Championships, he placed third three times and first in 2007.

Carol Walker

is familiar to Albany Festival attendees as a “regular” faculty member since 2008. Her many successful years as a high school music teacher, along with her skill as a dulcimer song arranger and performer, have combined to create effective workshop presentations that are sought after at dulcimer events around the US, as well as online festivals. During her tenure as a choral teacher, she was honored to receive the NJ Governor's Teacher of the Year Award.
